The VMR3 (aka MINEHOUND) is issued Navy EOD Mobile Units and Foreign Militaries, such as the UK and Pakistan for use in Afghanistan and is a slightly lighter version of the VMR2+, which is an official USMC Program of Record Detector (POR). Benefits of the VMR3 are: User Configurable Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to find ever evolving non/low-metallic signature IED’s in most soil and moisture conditions; Detects Command wires, Carbon Rod pressure plates, and deep buried HME; Dynamic Mode Detection, for crisper alerts finding small metal objects near large metal objects (i.e. AP mines surrounding an AT mine, or objects near walls/fences, rail lines or under vehicles); Ability to work within an Jammer’s EM “bubble” (tolerable amounts of interference).
