Revised in collaboration with military experts fresh from the field, the Afghanistan Counter-IED Visual Language Translator is designed specifically to assist Armed Forces personnel with the detection and deterrence of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Contains visual language graphics to help personnel gather intelligence about types of IEDs, including victim-operated and vehicle borne IEDs, suicide bombers, IED components and production, home-made explosives (HME), and IED emplacement, smuggling, and concealment. Also includes graphics for communicating about identifying and locating enemy covert activity. Supplemented with translations and easy-to-say phonetic spellings of basic Pashto and Dari terminology, questions and phrases.
