The #0931-1117 FS Kit contains a fusion splicer that allows the Warfighter to splice any fiber cable the Warfighter may encounter, including TFOCA reels. High precision fiber holders align the fiber perfectly to form an extremely loss loss junction. The military grade case has a removable lid that can be used as a cleaning platform for the Warfighter to place the tools and prevent contamination. The portable battery powered fusion splicer can be used in almost any environment, including aerial or ground communications. A built-in oven is used to shrink the included GPS (Glass Protection Sleeves) to protect the fiber after splicing. Two batteries and two sets of each of the 250 & 900 micron holders are included to allow “hot swapping” in theater.
